An informal, voluntary and good start to the day with various participants leading the way
This year the theme for the festival is "Peace" and the children's area has been expanded to include the space where we will build the Karlsøyyurta (a kind of Central Asian tent). Among other things, we will highlight this by creating power centers together. Some may call it altars, installations or "shrines". In a circle we will have five smaller circles that manifest the five elements of nature: earth - fire - water - air - ether. With creativity, collaboration and curiosity, everyone is invited to choose one or more elements and then build and create these power centers together. Each circle is a zone of contemplation, a power center that protects the elements where they live, grow and heal. By creating the power centers we are charging them with our energy. Read more about power stations here

Latin America seminar part 1: Grassroots movements in Brazil and possible political change in the autumn presidential election? 1. Grassroots movements in Brazil and possible political change in the autumn presidential election? Wednesday at 18.30 pm In Brazil, one of the world's largest social movements - the Movement of the Landless (MST) - is fighting for a fair distribution of land. They do this through land occupations of land that is either fallow or for other reasons does not fulfill "its social function" according to the country's constitution. As of today, the MST has a powerful enemy in the sitting president Jair Bolsonaro, but in the autumn there are presidential elections in Brazil and the possibility of a political change activities grassroots movements in Brazil. The solidarity carpet has several patches about the MST's struggle, and indigenous peoples in Brazil's struggle for their territories and rights. At this meeting, we will talk about both MST, the indigenous struggle in Brazil and what opportunities the election in the autumn can bring.
The Karlsøy Festival has invited the Russian artist Marina Shamova (de / dem). Marina is a non-binary interdisciplinary artist from St. Petersburg Russia. They work as lyricists, dancers and teachers of performance art. Shamova is also an LGBTQ2 + and anti-war activist.
Shamova has protested against the war by using artistic performative actions on the streets of St. Petersburg. For this, they received attention from the authorities and were arrested. They then carried out performative actions also in the arrest. Eventually they experienced that it was not safe to be in Russia. Marina therefore chose to leave the country and currently has a temporary stay in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Norwegian investments in Latin America. Thursday at 19.45
Norway invests both through private and state capital in Latin America. The Norwegian State Pension Fund (Oljefondet) is also a major investment player. In several places on the continent, Norwegian capital has come into conflict with the local population. One of the patches in the solidarity blanket deals with the Mapuche people's struggle for their territories and the preservation of their rivers. Statkraft has been present in Chile since 2014. The company operates hydroelectric plants and develops projects within hydropower and wind power, but they have ended up in a long-standing conflict with the Mapuche people. During this meeting, we will talk both about problematic investments in Latin America and, more specifically, the Mapuche people's fight for their territories.
